Dresden Freiberger Straße Railway Station, Dresden, Saxony, Germany - 121214

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhbs4_cgmlI Dresden Freiberger Straße railway station, is a small S-Bahn station located between Dresden Hauptbahnhof and Dresden Mitte, at the intersection of Freiberger Straße and the 173 main road Ammonstraße. The station serves only local S-Bahn services, the S1 (Meissen Triebischtal to Schoena) and S2 (Pirna to Dresden Airport), but is in-between two busy rail junctions, and therefore has much varied rail traffic, including local, and regional Deutsche Bahn services, ICE trains, Intercity trains, EuroCity Express and a great deal of passing freight. This film features views from the platform of Freiberger Straße of all of this very varied rail traffic, it also includes the final phases of exterior construction to Dresden's new climbing wall building - Sächsischer Bergsteigerbund (SBB), which has been built across the tracks from the station, and with it's gleaming white walls must surely be a magnet for the local graffiti artists! I'm sure when I return in July 2015, that the walls will not be so white any more. Review: Best Western Park Hotel, Falkirk, Stirlingshire, Scotland - 30th November, 2014

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84YAa4QEKj4 I stayed for one night at the Best Western Park Hotel in late November, 2014. Overall I very much enjoyed my stay there, and would recommend it to anyone visiting Falkirk, particularly for the Falkirk Wheel, which is just a short drive away. This film includes footage of the hotel car park, hotel exterior, lobby, reception, lift, corridors, dinner, breakfast and a detailed room review from a car park facing 3rd floor room. Review: Hotel Continental, Treviso, Veneto, Italy - 25th October, 2014

http://ift.tt/1CLuc6W I stayed at the Hotel Continental in Treviso for one night in October 2014, as I wanted to have a quick initial explore of Venice, but didn't actually want to stay in Venice, which I found extremely expensive. I flew into Treviso Airport, which is only a few Km from central Treviso, and the public service bus dropped me at the bus station which was very close by (3 min walk). The Hotel Continental is a grand old building that oozes sophistication, although some of the grandeur is beginning to fade, and in places decor and upkeep now need a little attention. With that said I found the hotel comfortable, the breakfast was quite decent and the staff were very friendly. The hotel is also conveniently located a 3 minute walk from Treviso Centrale railway station, for easy and quick access into Venice that was not expensive (I don't remember exactly how much). Treviso itself is a lovely old city and worth exploring in its own right, so I had one day exploring Venice, and another exploring Treviso. This film features an in-depth review of my hotel room, and the hotel public areas including the breakfast buffet and lobby. Hotel Review: Ibis Hasselt, Limburg, Belgium - 23rd October, 2014

http://ift.tt/1AtYN6L I stayed at the Ibis Hotel in central Hasselt in October 2014. It was a basic budget hotel with a small reception / bar area, and a reasonable sized breakfast room with a decent breakfast buffet. The hotel is in need of renovating, and I understand that this is due to happen at some point in the not-too-distant future. The bedroom was small and basic, but it was comfortable and warm. The staff were excellent and gave great customer service. I would certainly stay there again if I was working in Hasselt again. The Arc de Triomphe, Paris, France - 18th October, 2014

http://ift.tt/1zgx2iO The Arc de Triomphe de l'Étoile (Arch of Triumph of the Star) is one of the most famous monuments in Paris. It stands in the centre of the Place Charles de Gaulle (originally named Place de l'Étoile), at the western end of the Champs-Élysées. It should not be confused with a smaller arch, the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel, which stands west of the Louvre. The Arc de Triomphe (in English: "Triumphal Arch") honours those who fought and died for France in the French Revolutionary and the Napoleonic Wars, with the names of all French victories and generals inscribed on its inner and outer surfaces. Beneath its vault lies the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier from World War I. The Arc de Triomphe is the linchpin of the Axe historique (historic axis) – a sequence of monuments and grand thoroughfares on a route which runs from the courtyard of the Louvre to the Grande Arche de la Défense. The monument was designed by Jean Chalgrin in 1806 and its iconographic program pitted heroically nude French youths against bearded Germanic warriors in chain mail. It set the tone for public monuments, with triumphant patriotic messages. The monument stands 50 metres (164 ft) in height, 45 m (148 ft) wide and 22 m (72 ft) deep. The large vault is 29.19 m (95.8 ft) high and 14.62 m (48.0 ft) wide. The small vault is 18.68 m (61.3 ft) high and 8.44 m (27.7 ft) wide. Its design was inspired by the Roman Arch of Titus. This film features views of the Arc de Triomphe from Place Charles de Gaulle, views from the top of the Arc over Paris, and views within the Arc. Views Around Versailles, Yvelines, Île de France, France - 20th October, 2014

http://ift.tt/1v3vgLy Versailles is a wealthy suburb of Paris with a service based economy and is a major tourist destination. This film features views around the town of Versailles, which is situated on the the South West outskirts of Paris in the Yvelines département in Île-de-France region. The town is renowned worldwide for its château, the Château de Versailles and the gardens of Versailles, designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The film is taken around the town of Versailles, as well as at the Château and extensive gardens. The Château was closed to enter as filming was taking place for a period drama, but there are some nice shots of the actors in their costumes. The gardens were open and looked spectacular as ever, even in the drab grey weather. The film features the following identified locations and features: Versailles Château Rive Gauche railway station; Avenue du General de Gaulle; Monumnent aux Morts; Versailles Hôtel de Ville (Town Hall); Louis XIV Statue; Place d'Armes; Château de Versailles; Chapelle Royal; Bassin du Nord; Grand Canal; Tapis Vert; Le Bassin de la Pyramide; Parterre du Nord; Place Hoche; Rue Hoche; Église Notre-Damme; Place de la Loi; Le Monument National de la Gendarmerie and a fairground at the Parking Place de l'Europe. Hotel Review: Novotel Château de Versailles, Yvelines, Île de France, France - October 2014

http://ift.tt/1v3vaU4 I stayed at the Novotel Versailles Château in October 2014, when I was visiting Paris for the weekend. I wanted to avoid the hustle and bustle of Paris, so opted to stay here in the suburbs. The hotel itself was a good price, I paid £239 for 3 nights for 2 people, bed & breakfast. The video features views of the hotel exterior, the lobby / reception, the restaurant, breakfast buffet and a detailed bedroom review of room 403. Overall I very much liked this hotel, however the distance of the hotel from the RER stations in Versailles, meant that the journeys to and from Paris did take some time, and this has mostly put me off of staying here again.
